Verified and Featured Listings on Togather
What Verified badges and Featured placements mean — and the promises they deliberately do not make.

Badges are signals — not magic shields
People see a checkmark and relax. That’s human. It’s also how scams borrow trust. On Togather, Verified and Featured mean specific editorial things. They do not mean we live inside the chat and vouch for every message.
If you want the legal wording in full, read the Disclaimer. For how joins are paused, see safe redirect.
What Verified usually means
A verified listing typically passed checks for:
- Completeness (title, description, category, platform)
- Invite format matching the selected network
- No obvious scam/spam wording at review time
| Badge | Rough meaning | Not a promise of |
|---|---|---|
| Verified | Editorial quality gate passed | Continuous safety monitoring |
| Featured | Highlighted for discovery | Paid endorsement forever |
| Neither | Still a normal approved listing | “Unsafe by default” |
Verified means “this page looked solid when we reviewed it.” It does not mean “send money to admins.”
What Featured means
Featured listings can appear in homepage highlights. Admins choose them for clarity, niche usefulness, or rotation — not because a platform vendor asked us to. Featured is about discovery, not holiness.
You’ll still see the same redirect pause and the same report button.
How visitors should use badges
Treat badges as a tie-breaker, not a blindfold.
- Read the description anyway
- Check the category — e.g. Crypto vs Finance
- Confirm the platform matches what you want, like Discord vs WhatsApp
- Leave at the first OTP or payment demand
If two rooms look equal and one is verified, sure, try the verified one first. Still keep your guard up.
How owners can earn a cleaner listing
You can’t force verification by yelling in the description. You can:
- Write an accurate niche title
- Keep the invite alive
- Add real rules
- Avoid banned spam phrases
- Pick the correct category on Explore topics
Submission quality tips are in submit + moderation. Landing page quality tips are in SEO listing pages.
What we will never claim with a badge
- Affiliation with Meta, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or Google
- Financial advice quality inside crypto rooms
- Job placement success inside career chats
- That a community will stay kind forever
Communities change. Admins change. Invites expire. Badges are snapshots.
When to report a badged listing
Yes, you can report verified or featured pages. Expired invites and bait-and-switch descriptions still matter. See reporting.
Bottom line
Use Verified and Featured as helpful hints, then judge the listing like an adult. Read first, redirect second, join third. If a room doesn’t match its badge energy, leave and try another niche on Explore.
How visitors should talk about badges offline
If a friend asks “is this group verified on Togather?”, answer precisely: “The listing passed editorial checks. Still don’t send money.” Overstating badges creates the exact false confidence scammers love.
Rotation and removal
Featured slots can rotate. Verification can be removed if a listing decays into spam or the invite stays broken. Nothing is carved in stone. That’s healthier than fake forever-checks.
Comparing two listings side by side
When both are verified, prefer:
- Newer updated dates
- Specific rules
- Matching platform
- Descriptions that admit limitations (“not financial advice”, “no job guarantee”)
Honesty ranks higher than swagger once you’ve been burned once.
Owners chasing featured placement
Ask what would make the page useful even without a star. Then ask for consideration through normal channels if the product offers promotions later. Bribe-shaped promises in the description are a fast way to get the opposite of featured.
Homepage featured vs category shelves
Featured helps discovery on the homepage. Category shelves help intent browsing. A room can be useful in Education without ever being Featured. Don’t treat the star as the only success metric. Steady joins from the right niche beat a short spike from people who bounce immediately.
Also remember platform pages: a verified Discord listing still belongs in Discord browsing. Badges don’t move a room to the wrong app shelf.
