GAIL
BusinessGAIL (India) Limited, incorporated in August 1984 and now a Maharatna, is the country’s principal natural-gas transmission and marketing company and a growing petrochemicals and city-gas name. The pipeline book is the fact that defines the firm: about 16,420 kilometres of natural-gas pipelines plus about 2,040 kilometres of LPG pipelines. Those kilometres are regulated infrastructure. They move molecules from domestic fields and LNG terminals to fertiliser plants, power stations, refineries, and city-gas networks; they are not a consumer app. On top of transmission, GAIL operates a liquids and polymers system cited at about 1.4 million tonnes per annum of liquid hydrocarbons and about 810 kilotonnes of polymer capacity, which is why the company appears in both gas-transport tariffs and polyethylene sales conversations. City-gas distribution is the urban face. GAIL and its joint ventures hold authorisations across 72 geographical areas (GAs), a count that covers compressed natural gas for transport and piped natural gas for homes and commercial kitchens in a large slice of urban India. Those GAs are licensed territories with safety and tariff rules; a social post does not enrol a household or a CNG station. The climate target the company has put on the public record is Net Zero for Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 2035, which is an operational programme on compression energy, methane, and purchased power—not a claim that every end-user’s combustion is already abated. Official channels listed here are Facebook at GAILIndia, X at @gailindia, YouTube at /c/GAILSocial, Instagram at @gailindia, and LinkedIn at /company/gail-india-limited (use that company URL, not an authentication-wall or login redirect). They publish infrastructure films, safety campaigns, recruitment colour, and results notes. They are not CGD enrolment desks, not gas-nomination counters, and not inboxes for KYC or payment OTPs. Impersonation around connection charges is common; complete any household or commercial onboarding only through the licensed CGD entity’s published site. English is the corporate language of filings; Hindi appears on safety and consumer creative. Treat every post as communications from an August 1984 Maharatna whose network is about 16,420 km of natural-gas lines and 2,040 km of LPG lines, whose liquids and polymer book is about 1.4 MTPA LHC and 810 KT of polymer, whose CGD footprint is 72 GAs, and whose Scope 1–2 Net Zero year is 2035. Confirm kilometres, capacities, and GA counts in the latest annual report or on gailonline.com.
